Maribel Verdú (born 2 October 1970) is a Spanish actress. She is perhaps best known to English-speaking audiences playing the roles of Luisa in the 2001 film Y tu mamá también and Mercedes in Guillermo del Toro's 2006 film Pan's Labyrinth. In her native Spain, like Ariadna Gil, she is known for her performances in films such as Belle Époque and Huevos de oro.
Verdú was born María Isabel Verdú Rollán in Madrid. She began her career at age 13. She has appeared in almost 50 movies since 1984. The majority of her movie appearances have been in Spanish. She has also been in various TV shows. In 2007, Verdú was invited to join to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.
Verdú is married to Pedro Larrañaga, child of actors Carlos Larrañaga and María Luisa Merlo.
She won a Goya Award in 2008 for her lead role in Seven Billiard Tables (Siete mesas de billar francés).
